You can have Manhattan
I know it’s what you want
The bustle and the buildings
The weather in the fall
And I’ll bow out of place
To save you some space
For somebody new
I have found a new favorite song.

There’s always so much pressure when writing a new years post. I have nothing profound to say, I mean I’ve never had a way with words so you can only imagine my level of distress at this point - but I really really want to make an effort. Here goes…
I’ve been horrible with updating the blog I know. Truth is I had a pretty shitty semester in school, if you want to punish someone then make them do a group project in urban design for an entire semester.
I learned so much about myself in school - worked hard till my bones hurt and while the result in the end wasn’t what I wanted, I’m still happy I survived it all in one piece.
My words of advice would be to just chill out… seriously. Yes life is hard but it’s okay to check out for a day or the weekend from time to time and just stay in bed and do nothing. Your body and mind need that to recuperate and just (hopefully) stay sane. Find the balance to do what you must and what you love. Work hard and be patient because it really does pay off in the end. I promise you. Be a good person, be kind but don’t be a pushover. Learn to say ‘no’ because you can. Be aware of your surroundings and pay attention to the details. I know people my age don’t particularly like kids but it’s good to interact with them once a while - keeps you in check - it helps you see the world differently and reminds you not to take yourself too seriously all the time. Tell your family you love them or spend time with them. Just shut up and do it. Life is too short and unpredictable.
So many amazing things happened outside of college life though. Fashion week in September was awesome, I got to photograph some really cool shows/presentations (which I will post soon I promise) - the biggest one being Oscar de la Renta of course. Teen Vogue happened. Met some pretty incredible people.
I cannot wait to see what this next year brings. Can’t wait to meet new people and work on new projects. Some big plans are in the works. Wish me luck!
Hey 2013… bring it!

Oscar de la Renta dresses always have a story. That’s what I absolutely love about his collections. Every piece can stand alone and have its moment. This shoot took place exactly 36 hours before Hurricane Sandy hit. The entire semester I had been wanting to do a shoot with an Oscar dress in Prospect Park. I had never formally visited Prospect Park before so when I did I couldn’t believe how incredibly beautiful it was. If you haven’t been then you must go!
This shoot was a wonderful collaboration between friends without whom this couldn’t have been possible. Also, a huge thank you to the team at ODLR for allowing me an opportunity to tell this story - you guys are AMAZING.

As if seeing Karlie Kloss in person, that too at my first first Oscar de la Renta show wasn’t enough… having a picture I took of her published in the Teen Vogue Dec/Jan issue has me jumping for joy. Pinch me!
Happy Friday everyone :)

Happy Thanksgiving!
I know, I know.. I’m late. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend with your loved ones. I took this picture on a quick walk before thanksgiving dinner. The streets were fairly empty and it was a beautiful sunset with Boyce Avenue making me a little teary-eyed (iTunes shuffle knows me well). There’s a lot that i’m thankful for, everyday, especially this life that I’m living and the people who have been/are part of it. I know I complain a lot these days on twitter or in real life (to my friends who endure this i’m sorry) but that’s just because i’m having a stressful semester - truth is i’m happy i get to experience the little joys in life e.g getting gelato/cupcakes with my girlfriends or silly txt conversations with my closest buddies. It’s important to acknowledge the little things because sometimes it’s the only way you get through a really tough situation.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my 25 years on earth, it’s that you have one life… so pay attention.
